The New York Islanders have added eight more games to their regular-season schedule at their former home http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/jabaal-sheard-jersey , Nassau Coliseum at NYCB Live in Uniondale, New York.
The Islanders played the last three seasons at Barclays Center in Brooklyn http://www.officialbluejackets.com/authentic-adidas-david-savard-jersey , but it was not a popular move with their fans and the arena is more suited for basketball than hockey. They are building a new arena at Belmont Park, but will split their home games next season between Brooklyn and Uniondale.
Previously set to play 12 games at the revamped Coliseum Filip Forsberg Jersey , they now will have 20 in the 2018-19 season. The Belmont arena is scheduled to open in 2021.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the announcement Thursday about the added games at the Coliseum, saying: ”We’re bringing the Islanders home to Long Island and to the fans who have supported their team for decades. Until the grand opening of their new state-of-the-art arena at Belmont Park http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/khalil-mack-jersey , the Islanders will reunite with their fans at Nassau Coliseum and build momentum for a long-awaited homecoming.”
Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch sat during the national anthem ahead of the team's season opener.
Lynch declined to stand for the anthem before a game against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Lynch also sat for the anthem all of last season but never gave a reason for his decision.
No other players on either team demonstrated during the anthem. Only a handful of players took some sort of action to protest police brutality and social injustice in America on opening weekend.
The league and the players' union have yet to announce a policy for this season regarding demonstrations during the anthem after the league initially ordered everyone to stand on the sideline when "The Star-Spangled Banner" is played, or remain in the locker room.
